Australian Citizenship, Visa Appeals & Resident Return Citizenship

Australian citizenship may be obtained by conferral, descent or in some instances resumption.
The Australian citizen laws changed in 2007 and now you are required to have been in Australia for 4 years and sit a citizenship test. We can assist you with the Australian citizenship application, and we can also advise you as to whether any waivers apply to your particular circumstances.

Appeals and Ministerial Intervention

The Migration Review Tribunal (MRT), Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) and Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT), are independent merits review tribunals that examine “de novo” decisions made by the Department of Immigration and Border Pritection  (DIBP).  This emans that the Tribunals examine the application from the beginning.
The Australian Courts can, in turn, be asked to undertake judicial review of unfavorable decisions of the Tribunals named above.
Our experienced team can assist with all aspects of merits review and judicial review, including advising on prospects of success.
We can also advise and assist with the preparation of a submission to the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship to exercise his public interest powers (under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth)) and substitute the negative decision with a more favorable one.

Resident Return Visas

The Resident Return visa allows current or former Australian permanent residents, or former Australian citizens to re-enter Australia as permanent residents traveling overseas.   We have regularly completed successful applications in relation to resident return visas so that you do not lose your right to return to Australia.  We also advise on the best ways for you to keep your residency.
